The only Avshalom that I am aware of in Tanach was Dovid Hamelech’s son. He rebelled against his father and died a terrible death. Therefore, I was wondering if the name Avshalom is a good name to use to name a child? Is it wrong naming after a wicked person?

Interesting point. I can’t say anything definitive on this because I don’t really know these things, but the sefer Shaimos B’oretz pg. 96 it is brought in the name of R’ C. Kanievsky shlit”a not to call someone by the name Avshalom, but Avishalom. He brings Tosefos Babba Kamma 102b D:H Sheni, that says this.
