Reassembling an Electric Urn

I bought an electric urn. According to Reb Moshe zts”l the internal electric wiring does not require tevilah. Would taking apart the internal mechanism and re-assembling it relieve the requirement for tevilah since they did not require tevilah in the first place?

Answer:

It is sufficient to take apart the electric mechanism and to re-assemble it. The idea behind this is that the utensil will now be considered to have been made (or completed) by a Jew, and therefore exempt from the obligation of tevilah. For this purpose, taking apart and re-assembling the electric mechanism is certainly sufficient.
