Is it a requirement that a wife attend her husband's funeral and burial?
Answer:
A wife is not responsible for the burial of her husband--this responsibility is placed on children. However, there is a Torah mitzvah to be present as the deceased makes his final journey, and this mitzvah applies first and foremost to close relatives. A wife's closest relative, together with her parents and children, is her husband, and if at all possible, she is therefore required to be present at the funeral.
