How many years did it take Noah to build the ark?

Answer:

According to the midrashic tradition, it took Noah 120 years to build the ark, The reason for this was to allow the generation ample opportunity to repent for their misdeeds. This interpretation is basd on the verse (Gen. 6:3), “and his years will be one hundred and twenty years,”  meaning that 120 years will pass from the instruction to build the ark, to the commencement of the flood.
