Ashkenazi siddurim generally print the berachah with a segol, following the tradition of Shaarei Tefillah, Safah Berurah (R. Wolf Hidenheim), and Avodas Yisrael (who writes that all blessings are made in the present tense). However, Yaavatz (in his Luach) and Anaf Etz Avos dispute this, and write that the correct pronunciation is with a kamatz. A disciple of Rav Shlomo Zalman Auerbach zt”l told me that he spoke with his mentor a number of times about the topic, and that Rav Shlomo Zalman himself wavered concerning this matter.
Thus, both ways are legitimate, and a person should act according to his custom.
