Between Tefillah and Tefillah

If one has only his yad teffilin on during schachris after reciting lehaniach blessing, and someone else recites Kaddish, is the Kaddish itself is considered a hefsik in so much that the individual has to repeat the first brachah again? If not, is dibbur considered the only hefsek?

Answer:

Somebody else reciting Kaddish does not constitute a hefsek. Only the person’s own speech constitutes a hefsek, and one must be careful not to speak between the two Tefillin’s. One must also be careful not to perform any action between the two tefillin, and including even a significant time delay.

Sources: Mishnah Berurah (25). If the congregation arrive at kaddish or kedushah, one should speed up to put on the head tefillin, even before winding the strap around the arm, and answer with the congregation after ensuring that the head tefillin is tightly fixed to the head.
