Touching Children (Niddah)

Dear Rabbi,

My family has been non practicing for several generations. I am trying to remedy that! I am trying to learn to practice for family purity. I understand that during th time of seperation, that my husband can not touch me. But I have small children. Am I not permitted to touch them during this time of separation also? Thank you.

Answer:

Your strengthing of religious practice, in particular after several generations, is very admirable.

At the time of separation, husband and wife may not touch, but there is no issue of touching other family members, and it is permitted to kiss and cuddle your children as usual. The restriction is only for husband and wife, who are forbidden to one another during this time.

Best wishes, and good luck for the future!
