Deductions from Ma’aser

Regarding Mayser Ksafim, If lets say I make 5000 dollars a month from my job, but I spend 150 dollars a week on baby sitting and spend 80 dollars a week on gas. Do I take off mayser on my total profits from work or my profits after all of my expenses I make in getting to work?

Answer:

Ma’aser is taken from a person’s income. Therefore, you should first deduct your expenses, including baby sitting and the cost of getting to work, and only then calculate the ma’aser.
