Does sinning need intent in order for it to be considered a sin?
Answer:
No. Even unintentional sin is considered a sin, when a person could have been more careful to avoid the sin (for example, if a person forgets that today is Shabbos, or forgets that it is forbidden to drive on Shabbos). However, this level of sin is less severe that intentional sin, and in the times of the Temple it could be atoned for by means of bringing a sacrificial offering (chatas).
