Passing on Beach Chair

If one is at the beach and has hired a beach chair – can one pass it on to someone else if he decides to leave early?

Answer:

Unless a special condition is made, rental is considered a ‘purchase for a limited time,’ meaning that for the time and the use in question, the beach chair is ‘yours,’ and it’s use can be handed on to others.

For homes, a rental contract often includes a clause that limits the tenant’s right to pass rental on to others without the landlord’s consent. For beach chairs, it is unlikely that such as clause is included, and it is therefore permitted to hand on the chair to others, until the expiration of the rental period.

[However, if the agreement is that one cannot pass the chair to others, this agreement is legally binding, and it would be forbidden to pass it on.]
