Animal Souls

What happens to the soul of an animal when it dies such as a cow, mice, or a roach does it get judged like us or what? (i heard that when animal dies it’s soul is gone, but it doesn’t sound true because i also heard that a soul, being a part of G-d can never go away so it doesnt make sense to me) Can you explain this?

Answer:

The general assumption is that the soul of an animal “dies” with the animal. The Ramban (Bereishis) and others explain that whereas a human being is a compound being, his sould being from the heavens and his body from the earth, an animal does possess this dual nature, and even its soul is from the earth. Therefore, its soul dies with its body.

The kabbalists discuss how everything in the world has some connection with the Divine, in that everything is in the final analysis a creation, or an Emanation, from Him. However, this is true on a very hidden level, with only the most elevated and fine part of the spiritual composition being connected to Hashem. It does not bear upon souls as we think of them.
