Deducting Shekels from Dollar Maaser

I have pledged 650 nis to the tomchei Torah of my yeshiva here in EY. Being that I will be paying in shekels I was wondering at what conversion rate do I use to figure out how much maaser I gave, since the income was originally in dollars. Thank you

Answer:

You should use the standard conversion rate (sha’ar yatzig — which defines the “actual value” of the money) of the day on which you actually make the payment.

Best wishes.
