How does one do kriyah when visiting the Kosel.
Is it also applicable to women and children below Bar Mitzvah.
What does one do with the torn garment – can it be use for kriyah again.
Answer:
One should walk in without a jacket on, and make a tear, the length of one tefach, along one’s shirt. The corner of the shirt, near the shoulder, is an appropriate place. Before leaving home, the shirt should be pierced and the tear started, so that it can be easily continued at the kosel.
The halachah applies to women, but not to children.
The garment can be used for keriyah again.
Before you do keriyah, ensure that you are obligated in doing so.
