Is Whisky Chametz

Question:

Is liquor (whiskey, scotch, etc) considered to be сhametz m’doraisa or m’drabbanan?

Answer:

It has the halachah of chametz mid’oraisa.

The Shulchan Aruch Ha-Rav writes: “Zei’a (lit. sweat) that comes out of chametz is considered as chametz itself [this ruling is given by the Rema], and therefore whisky, which is produced from chametz, is not considered ta’aroves chametz, but rather as chametz itself.”
