Shalosh Seudos Until What Time

On Shabbos, what time should you wash for Shalosh Seudos by? Some people I have asked say say shkia, while others say you can wait until half an hour before Shabbos goes out. Many thanks.

Answer:

The simple wording of the Mishnah Berurah (299:1) is that a person can wash bedieved until the time that Shabbos goes out, adding that one should be stringent from half-an-hour before nightfall.

However, the Shemiras Shabbos Kehilchasah (56:4) rules that one should not wash after shkiya, citing also from the Chazon Ish.

Therefore, one should certainly be careful to wash for Shalosh Seudos by shkiyah, and if this time passes, one can be lenient for some minutes after shkiyah, in similar vein to the leniency mentioned by the Mishnah Berurah of davening Mincha up to 13 minutes after shkiyah.

Beyond this, one should not wash.
