Airline Tickets off Hold

I had three tickets on hold by a travel agent and since one of them was going to come off hold I asked the travel agent to book it. They booked it and it seems that they forgot to put the other tickets on hold and now the prices went up. Am I allowed to deny charges for the ticket I purchased because I purchased it with das that I would be able to book the other two (my wife and child)?

Answer:

Unless you explicitly stipulated that your purchase of the ticket is contingent on the other two tickets being kept on hold, you would not be able to withhold payment.

Although the travel agent has “caused you a loss,” this will not be grounds to null the purchase of the ticket, unless such a stipulation was made, or at the very least clearly implied.

You can ask them to compensate you for the extra cost of the tickets. Although they are not actually obligated to do this, it would be right for them to come towards you, and it is possible that they’ll be prepared to do so for the sake of their “good name.”

Best wishes.
