Answer:
The big banks in Israel have a heter iska arrangement, so that it is permitted to buy the item on credit.
Having said this, it remains worthy practice to avoid such a transaction (since this isn’t an “investment” to which the principles of an iska are readily applicable), and in Israel, most things can be bought for payment in installments without interest, which is preferable.
