She’asa Li Kol Tzarchi

If someone wears crocks, sneakers or slippers, can he say the bracha of She’asa li kol zarchi?

Answer:

According to most authorities, the berachah of she’asa li kol zarchi can be recited regardless of the shoes one wears.

Some authorities (notable, the Vilna Gaon) rule that on days when it is forbidden to wear leather shoes, the berachah is not recited, though this is not the general custom (see Halichos Olam 1:53).

However, even these authorities agree that on a day when it is permitted to wear leather shoes, and a person can do so if he wants, the berachah is recited regardless of which shoes he actually wears.

Best wishes.
