After leining on Shabbos (after Hagbah), my shul places the Sefer Torah on the Bimah where the one who will read the Haftorah is standing – is this ok, or should someone be holding the Torah?
Answer:
Although the general custom is that the person who performed Hagbaha continues to hold the Sefer during the reading of the Haftorah, there does not seem to be any problem with placing the Sefer on the Bimah while the Haftora is read.
