Validity of Second Marriage

Hello,
I’m a divorced Jewish woman, and I remarried after my divorce and didn’t wait the obligatory 92 days. Does this mean that my second marriage is not effective, since I didn’t wait 92 days?
Also, what is the effective divorce date – after 92 days have elapsed or the same day on which I received the paper from the rabbinate?

Answer:

Although there is an obligation to wait 92 days after getting divorced before remarrying, this obligation is rabbinic in nature (it is meant to ensure that the lineage of future children should not become obscured), and it does not effect the legal validity of the second marriage.

Therefore, the second marriage is entirely valid, and it takes effect on the day of the marriage ceremony was performed, which is the date written on the certificate from the rabbinate.

Best wishes.
