Returning to the Kehunah

Is a Kohen allowed to return to the Kehunah after having decided to leave and after having left?

Answer:

A Kohen, even if he decides to leave the Kehunah, cannot actually do so, and remains a part of the Kehunah even after he 'leaves' it. He can certainly therefore "return" to the Kehunah.

However, if his father married a woman who is forbidden to Kehunah, it follows that he is disqualified from the Kehunah.
