Conservative Prayer Book

What should be done with a used prayer book from a Conservative synagogue: Is it holy and require geneiza or should it be thrown away/burnt?

Answer:

It should be placed in geniza.

The Gemara states that a Sefer Torah that was written by a min (heretic) must be burned, but in the case of the Conservative movement we cannot know who the author was, and there are different levels of belief within the movement, so that it will not be correct to burn it.

This is all the more true of a printed prayer book. Therefore, the siddur should be put in geniza.

Best wishes.
