Tightening Shel Yad Knot

I recently had my retzuos replaced and I was told that the knot on the shel yad was improperly tied. I think what happened was that it came undone and I hadn’t tied it properly. After the sofer was done, I was told to put on the tefillin again and recite shema. What do I do about the time since they were improperly tied? I have never missed a day of wearing them, but now im concerned since there is a period of time when I wasn’t wearing kasher tefillin?

Answer:

Although I cannot be sure of this, it is most probable that the knot was not entirely undone, but only slightly undone, so that it required re-tying.

In this case, although the knot is not lechatchilah, it does not mean that you have not fulfilled the mitzvah.

Best wishes.
