What is the status of a donated egg?
Can one take an egg from a sister of the recipient and does it matter if that sister is married?
In Israel one can only receive from anon Jewish anonymous donor — does the child have the status of a gentile and needs a giyur?
Answer:
There is no specific problem with taking an egg from a sister.
Taking from an anonymous donor is likewise fine, provided one knows that the egg comes from a Jewish donor — there is no need for giyur.
