Questions on Judaism

Hi there

I would like to thank you for answering my questions.

I forgot to ask these questions.

1)Can you be Jewish by beliefs and believe in Jesus to be the messiah?

2)Can you be Jewish by beliefs and believe in Muhammad to be a prophet?

3) What is the eschatology of Judaism?

4) Is hell in Judaism temporary or permanent?

5)Is Judaism a religion or race?

In other words, can you be Jewish and allow to believe in both of them and still be Jewish by beliefs. That is what I mean.

Yours Sincerely

Costas

Answer:

1. Jewish belief includes waiting for the Messiah. There are special signs of the Messiah that were not fulfilled in Jesus, and therefore Judaism cannot be resolved with belief in Jesus as the Messiah. In addition, belief in Jesus as Messiah usually goes together with the acceptance of Christian doctrine, which is very must opposed to Jewish faith and practice.

2. No, because Muhammad preached a number of matters that are opposed to Jewish tradition.

3. I cannot answer in this brief response. Suffice to note that in Days to Come Jewish belief is that all creatures will know the G-d of Israel, His Name will be glorified before all, and the world will reach its ultimate purpose.

4. Temporary. Those who descend to hell will ultimately reach their rectification, and arise.

5. Judaism is a nation with a law, which also includes a belief system. All can join to become part of the nation.

Best wishes.
