Assorted Questions

Can I cook dairy utensils and foods, and meaty utensils and foods , on the same burner(flame) without any additions? If I poured water from a meaty cup to another utensil, and then pour the water on my hands and dry them in a towel ,can I eat dairy with those hands without any additional cleansing? If I take off my undershirt on shabbos with the intent of not wearing it anymore ,and putting on a clean one. Does it become muktza once it leaves my hands (even though technically it could be used because it’s not very dirty , just i don’t plan on using it without putting in the washing machine first)? Can I move (to open and close ) the garbage bag if the bottom of it remains in one place on the ground? Is a fishy smell (the smell of a fish store) or of a garbage bag in the house which hasn’t been taken out in a day or two, considered a bad smell in which one one cannot daven near it?

Answer:

1. Yes. The flame and the burner do not require kashering, because they kasher themselves. This is not true of the grid, which should not be used for dairy and meaty foods, but can be used for dairy and meaty utensils.

2. Hands don’t become dairy or meaty (certainly not from water) and there’s no problem.

3. The undershirt does not become muktzeh, because it can still be worn.

4. It is permitted to move the top of the garbage bag – this is not considered moving the bag.

5. It is not forbidden to daven here, but it is nonetheless not preferred.

Best wishes.
