I will be staying at a large non jewish hotel.
May I order a cut-up fruit basket from the hotel (vs. a whole fruit basket)?
The baskets are prepared in the hotel and are not from an outside fruit store.
Answer:
If there is a preference you can order the cut-up fruit basket.
For a large hotel, we can assume that the knives used will not be regular kitchen knives that might be used for non-kosher food (for meat, for instance).
Certainly, the knives won't be dirty (the halachic assumption of dirty knives will not apply here), and there is therefore no concern of something not kosher coming off onto the fruit.
Best wishes.
