Restaurant on Purim

Dear Rabbi
May a Kosher restaurant remain open on Purim?
Also may one go and eat their Purim Seuda at kosher restaurant?

Answer:

It is permitted to keep a restaurant open on Purim.

This is because although one should not generally work on Purim, a restaurant can be considered work “for the purpose of the festival” (since people might wish to have their se’udah in the restaurant), and therefore it is permitted.

Of course, one must ensure that working in the restaurant will not prevent a person from fulfilling all of the mitzvos of the day.

It is permitted to have one’s se’udah in the restaurant.

Best wishes.
