Is there any basis for celebrating a birthday at a specific Time ?
Does Halacha favor dates on or close to Birth dates ?
Answer:
There aren’t many sources in halachah for celebrating birthdays – though we see from the Chumash that they were celebrate de facto even in the times of Pharaoh (unless a royal birthday is different). The Yerushalmi (Rosh Hashanah 3:8) writes that a birthday is a special time for a person, and the Ben Ish Chai (Re’eh) writes that some celebrate the event, for instance by making a siyum.
Chabad Chassidus makes something of an issue out of a birthday, and it is celebrated slightly. In general there is little halachic literature on the subject.
Best wishes.
