Maaser on Future Income

I would like to make a dedication in a new book l’ilui nishmas my relatives. The dedication costs $500, but I don’t have that much ma’aser money available. Can I donate the $500 now and deduct it from the ma’aser I will owe on future income?
Thank you.

Answer:

Yes, this is fine. It is permitted to take maaser up front from future income.

This is known as “lending money to tzedakah” and it is permitted.

Best wishes.
