I’m ashkinazi and try to follow chasidishe practices and customs (I’m a baal teshuva). I was recently told that my Tefillin parshios are written in ksav beis yosef and not ksav ari. Is this an issue? Thanks!
Answer:
Ksav Beis Yosef is the classic Ashkenazi script for STAM.
Although Hassidim generally use Ksav Arizal, there is no obligation to switch, but there is an “inyan” (a virtue) to do so based on Hassidus. The next time you wish to buy parshios you can buy ones written in Ksav Arizal.
Best wishes.
