Going to Mixed Concert

My parents are visiting from America, and would like to take my children to a concert by Yaakov Shwecky. The concert is mixed seated, but the whole family will sit together. Is there any issur to attend such a concert due to the mixed seating and/or that people (men and women) in the audience sing along (although they can’t really be heard due to the loud music)? Or, is it just not a good thing to do, but maybe in a case like going with their grandparents it would be acceptable?

Answer:

Under the circumstances I do not see any problem in attending the event.

Some rabbis have frowned on mixed concert, even with separate seating.

However, many have not expressed any negative opinion on this issue, and for an American audience this remains fairly standard.

Certainly, if the matter pertains to honoring grandparents, and in a family atmosphere, I think it is perfectly acceptable.

Best wishes.
