Meat During the 9 Days

My mother is on a strict diet for health reasons, which allows her to eat lean animal protein only, with vegetables every other day. She had prepared meat for supper tonight is running late and has not eaten yet. Shkiah was 8:30.

1. Is she still allowed to eat the meat now, a few minutes after shkiah?

2. Is there any leniency for her to eat meat during the nine days due to her restrictions? Or must she eat eggs and fish only?

Thank you,

Answer:

The prohibition begins at shkiyah, after that meat should not be eaten.

Someone with a medical condition which requires eating meat may do so in the 9 days, preferably chicken should be eaten as opposed to beef. If she can avoid meat for the 9 days and find replacement foods without harming her health, meat should be avoided.
