Can a hatan have the same Jewish name as his father in law?
Answer:
According to Biblical and Talmudic law there is no problem with this. However based on the Tzavaah of Rav Yehuda Hachasid [one of the great Rishonim] many have a custom to avoid this. People of Sefardic descent generally do not abide by this custom.
There are those who will change or add a name to solve this conflict.
