Pruzbul for Guarantor

Must an Areiv, a guarantor on a loan, write a Pruzbul?

Answer:

No, only the lender must write a pruzbul. The guarantor is in place of the borrower, and a pruzbul will not effect his status.

However if a guarantor paid of a loan, and shviis ends before the borrower has paid off the loan, Shviis will nullify this loan, and a pruzbul should be written.

In general it is recommended for everyone to write a pruzbul, as in our modern world of commerce there are many potential debts one may be unaware of, which shviis may nullify.
