Quitting Teaching Job

I recently decided not to renew my job as an assistant in elementary class. Because I was coming from out of town, finding lodging was very hard and to expensive, so I told my principal that she has to find another assistant. She feels I broke a contract ,while I never signed that I would take the job for this coming year. And she can always find another assistant . Is there any monetary problems here? Thanks
(There are other reasons why I had to leave but I don’t think it would make a difference to her).

Answer:

As long as you are not bound by a contract and you give ample time to find a replacement, there is no problem with quitting your job.
