MAY I PUT A MEZUZA IN MY HOUSE, DESPITE THE FACT THAT I´M NOT LIVING THERE, AND THE HOUSE KEEPER IS NOT JEWISH, AND DOES NOT KEEP KASHRUS INSIDE IT?
NOTE: THE HOUSE KEEPER IS NOT LEASEHOLDER.
BEST REGARDS.
ZAJ GEZUNT!
Answer:
If you and all other Jewish residents have moved out permanently, and only a non Jew is living there, there is no need for mezuzos, and they should be removed. Mezuza is only an obligation for one who is actually living in a house, not for owning a house. One should not leave the mezuza if the non Jew is the only resident on a permanent basis.
