Doughnuts and Bishul Akum

What is the story with dough that is fried – like Dunkin Doughnuts- in regard to Pas and Bishul Akum?
Thank you.

Answer:

Many Kashrus organizations allow fried doughnuts made by non Jews. Their opinion is that it may not be considered Pas but rather a tavshil, however it is not considered “oleh al shulchan melachim” not fit for dignified meals and not subject to Bishul Akum.

There is also an opinion that with regards to Bishul Akum we may in fact treat it as Pas [Aruch Hashulchan Y:D 112:31], and hence it is Pas Palter and permitted for those lenient with Pas Palter.
