Nezirus

Question:

I have an odd question that is unfortunately l’maase.

For reasons that I cannot explain, I impulsively decided to make a neder for nezirus shimshon with the intention of retracting it toch kdei dibur. I said “hareini n’zir shimshon -No I’m not” 3 or 4 times one after the other. As far as I remember, there was no more than a space of one or two seconds between the shimshon and retraction. My intention was that it would be a full neder but immediately retracted -I did not intend to come out of this a nazir. (I understand nazir Shimshom ein lo she’elah.)

After I did this (and my seichel came back) I began to worry that 1) the space between the “neder” and the “retraction” was too long and 2) because I did this in an very soft undertone, maybe the retraction was not loud enough. (Specifically, maybe the “neder” was spoken but the retraction not.)

I also remembered the mesiras modaah for Erev Rosh Hashanah sometime after this event, and I remember looking into whether it would work in this situation. I don’t know if I did some sort of “kiyum” when I remembered it -I probably felt some relief and decided to look into it.

What can I do to remedy this situation?

Answer:

On erev Rosh Hashonoh when we anul all vows we say “even nezerus Shimshon” and we are moiser a moidaah that any future vows made should be void. Also you retracted straight away. I would suggest in the future if a similar situation arises you add “bley neder”.
