Question:
Please see Melachim 1 chapter 5 which specifies the extent of Shlomo’s wisdom. Why say he was wiser than a whole lot of people we’ve never heard of. Rabbeinu Bachya on Bemidbar 19:1 presumably quoting a Midrash identifies them, but why wasn’t Yirmiyahu explicit when he wrote Sefer Melachim?
Answer:
Perhaps they were better known by the names quoted in Melachim. Also the commentators expound the names so therefore they were written in away to allow for elucidation.
