Men and Women sitting separately in shul

Question:

Is there a Torah or Talmud source or reference that says or indicates that men and women should not sit together in shul? I know there are reasons. What I am looking for is if there is an actual reference in Torah/Talmud.

Answer:

The Temple (Beis Hamikdash) had completely separate men’s and women’s court. Also on Succos a special women’s gallery was erected in the Temble to ensure complete segregation during the festive celebrations. Also after the miracle of the splitting of the Red Sea the men and women sang and praised Hashem separately.

Sources:

Shemos 15:20, Gemorah Succah 51b, Rambam Succah 8:12, Beis Habechirah 5:9
