Question:
Its has happened on several locations that my boss has asked me if a specific group of coworkers have been doing their job. This information can be found with out actually going through me, by simply checking the company database. I feel every time i answer, saying no and giving specifics based on each person, that I am engaging in loshon hara… is that true? Or do I have an obligation to answer even if he obtain such answer with out asking anyone directly? If it is loshon hara can i ask him to please keep me out of it (i won’t be penalized by doing so) and remind him that the info can be obtained through the database?

If you will not be penalized in any way I suggest you tell him politely that you prefer to keep out of it.
