Chance of slight mis understanding of what Kol Nidre is supposed to do.

Question:

Thanks for answering questions I sent you. It makes me feel better. I remember when i first learned about Kol Nidre it nullifies vows in the past. Then I recently read it is to preempt in the future. If I thought at the time of doing Kol Nidre that it only works for the past, will it still preempt? As mentioned in a previous question I do understand the Hebrew so there is a chance I understood the part about “from this Yom Kippur to the next”. I also like to read the commentary the prayers when available since the shul would wait for as many people to come before starting so there may be a chance I did read the commentary which explains about it being more for the future. There is also the English translation on the side and I may have glanced at it anyway. The Machzor also had the part about past neders in parenthesis with future ones out of parenthesis meaning it prioritized the latter anyway as more important to say.

Answer:

Thanks for keeping me informed. Wishing you a Shana Tova, and blessings of success in all your endeavors.
