Bobby pins on shabbos

Question:

In a place with no eruv can I go out with Bobby pins in my yarmulka? Does it make a difference if it is attached to my hair or not? Thanks

Answer:

Bobby pins that are needed to keep one’s yarmulka on his head are considered part of the yarmulka, and may be worn even where there isn’t an eruv. However if the pins are not needed, especially if they aren’t being used, should not be worn outside if there is no eruv there. One should also be careful only to use the amount of pins that are actually needed, and not to use extra ones.
