Dear Rabbi,
My brother is fundraising money to help support Shaare Zedek hospital. Can I use my maser money for a donation to this hospital?

Answer:
It depends on the reason for the donation. Sharei Tzedek Hospital is B”H very successful, and they get a lot of government help. Therefore it is hard to see why they would have a need to fundraise. However if the money is going for a new wing, something that is very costly, then it would be considered tzedakah.
