Question:
Must Keriat Shema Al Hamita actually be said on one’s bed or can it be recited elsewhere?
Answer:
Kriat Shema Al Hamita is the shema that we say right before going to sleep for the night. A Jew finishes his day with a declaration of emuna in H-shem. Similar to when a person ends his life, it is done with a declaration of shema and emunah, so too at the end of the day we make such a declaration. However it does not have to be said specifically while on ones bed. It should however be said as close to to going to sleep.
