Health drink

Question:

I have started to drink a glass of water mixed with a teaspoon of vinegar for health reasons. The taste is growing on me . Do I make a shehakol on it? And can I drink it on Shabbos?

Answer:

My apologies that it took so long to get back to you.

If you don’t mind the taste then you would make a bracha on it.

However regarding shabbos, it would be problematic because it is considered a medicine. Even though both the water and vinegar are normal foods, but they are not meant to be eaten this way and therefore it is not considered maachal bri’im, (healthy people’s food).  There are times that one may take medicines on shabbos, depending on the persons condition and which ailment it is. For that I would need more information from you.
