Melacha in the Bais Hamikdash

Question:

Hi –
I was looking for some sources regarding a halachic question. The question is what melachos are allowed in the Mishkan/Beis Hamikdash during Shabbos? I think that while all melachos are assur outside the temple at least those required for korbanos are permitted inside? Are all the melachos permitted inside though? And what sources can you provide for this question?
Thanks so much!!!

Answer:

Essentially we are not allowed to do melachos in the mishkan, in fact we learn what melachos we are not allowed to do from the building of the mishkan. There is however an exception, and that is that various korbanos etc. that must be brought on shabbos or yom tov, such as the public korbanos that have to be brought specifically then, those actions were permitted, but only those. Aside from this there is a rule that rabbinic injunctions did not apply to the Bais Hamikdash. The reason being is because the kohanim in the Bais Hamikdash were very careful about what they did, and there was no fear that they might accidently transgress one of the mitzvos. Therefore there was no need for he rabbinic safeguards to apply to the kohanim in the Bais Hamikdash.
