Does this need to be toiveled?

Question:

If I want to reuse a glass jar or bottle that was bought with food in it (eg. a coffee jar or whiskey bottle) do I need to toivel it? Thank you so much!

Answer:

There are many poskim who sat that it should be toveled, ( without a bracha), however many people rely on the opinion of R’ Moshe Feinstein zt”l who held that it doesn’t need tevilah.. His reasoning was that since it was sold as a one time bottle, meant to empty and throw out, therefore it wasn’t considered a kli yet. Therefore when the Jew ecides to reuse it , he is the one making it into a kli, therefore it doesn’t need tevilah.
