Kesuva for mental illness

Question:

Is it considered a mekach taos if in the marriage ones wife is diagnosed with a mental illness/personality disorder and which seemingly existed prior?
Is there an obligation to pay kesuva if one divorces? What if she is not willing to go for an official diagnosis and that just many therapists say that there are extreme symptoms in her of this mental illness, is there still a kesuva?

Answer:

This sounds very serious, but most of your question can only be answered by the Rabbonim that are actually dealing with you, and know all the details of what is going on.  It may depend on the specific issue, the level of the issue, how it effects your marriage, and the amount of time that you are already married, and What proof is there that it existed, and to what degree it existed prior to the marriage? Were there factors that happened after the marriage that made things worse? As stated, this can only be determined, if at all, by the Rabbonim that know the specific circumstances. The kesuba is not really the issue here as most of the time the issue of the kesuba is taken care of together with the other monetary issues.

H-shem should help you in this difficult, trying period, and I hope everything works out alright.
